Hermeto Pascoal – Made of music


Hermeto Pascoal is one of the most experimental musicians of our time. Miles Davis once said, “He is the most impressive musician in the world. If I returned from the afterlife, I want to be like that crazy albino”. To celebrate 30 years of his first solo album, we created something unique as his music. We invited Hermeto to record 4 unpublished songs and developed a tool, based on an algorithm that extracted the data of the music and transforms it into graphic representations. For each instrument played, a graphic pattern is generated.

These graphics were used in design communication and album covers, which can be created from any photo on the project website.
The lettering was designed based on the deconstruction of the glyphs finding a rhythm to express the project's musical approach, combined with a Simplon mono-spaced given the tech aspect of the algorithm.
